Molecular phylogeny of the pond skaters (Gerrinae), discussion of the fossil record and a checklist of species assigned to the subfamily (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerridae)
- J. Damgaard, F. Moreira, T. Weir, H. Zettel
- Biology
- 24 July 2014
The phylogenetic reconstruction shows that Gerrinae is not monophyletic, since a clade comprising Gerris, Aquarius, Limnoporus, Tachygerris, Eurygerris and Gigantometra is more closely related to representatives of the subfamily Eotrechinae than to aClade comprising Limnogonus, Neogerris, Limmometra, Tenagogerris and Tenagogonus.

Based on published information of about 200 references, 479 species of Gerromorpha and Nepomorpha have been recorded from Brazil and compiled here for the first time. Of these, 105 belong to the…
Aquatic Insects from the Caatinga: checklists and diversity assessments of Ubajara (Ceará State) and Sete Cidades (Piauí State) National Parks, Northeastern Brazil
- D. M. Takiya, A. P. Santos, J. A. Rafael
- Biology, Environmental ScienceBiodiversity Data Journal
- 8 May 2016
Rarefaction curves based on quantitative light trap samples suggest a much higher expected species richness of aquatic insects at Sete Cidades than at Ubajara National Park, possibly due to structural differences of water bodies sampled in each park.

Molecular phylogeny of the pond treaders (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Mesoveliidae), discussion of the fossil record and a checklist of species assigned to the family
- J. Damgaard, F. Moreira, M. Hayashi, T. Weir, H. Zettel
- Biology
- 2012
The phylogenetic relationships among selected species and genera of Mesoveliidae were investigated in a parsimony analysis of 2858 bp of DNA sequence data from the genes encoding COI + II, 16S rRNA and 28S r RNA, supporting earlier ideas of species-complexes in these two clades.
Identification key to the Gerridae (Insecta: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha) from the Amazon River floodplain, Brazil, with new records for the Brazilian Amazon
- F. Moreira, V. P. Alecrim, J. Ribeiro, J. Nessimian
- Biology

The main features used in the identification key and diagnoses are: body and leg segments proportions, coloration patterns, presence and distribution of setae, and modifications of the apical abdominal segments and external genitalia of the male.
