Reorganization of North Atlantic Marine Copepod Biodiversity and Climate
Evidence is provided of large-scale changes in the biogeography of calanoid copepod crustaceans in the eastern North Atlantic Ocean and European shelf seas related to both the increasing trend in Northern Hemisphere temperature and the North Atlantic Oscillation.

It is shown that marine ecosystems are not equally sensitive to climate change and a critical thermal boundary is revealed where a small increase in temperature triggers abrupt ecosystem shifts seen across multiple trophic levels.
Diversity of calanoid copepods in the North Atlantic and adjacent seas: species associations and biogeography
It is shown that temper- ature, hydrodynamics, stratification and seasonal variability of the environment are likely to be the main factors contributing to the ecological regulation of diversity of calanoid copepods.

A chain of mechanisms is suggested, whereby climate variation has modified the long-term dynamics of pelagic copepods, chaetognaths and jellyfish in the Ligurian Sea, suggesting a shift in the functioning of the pelagic ecosystem.
