Repression of p15INK4b expression by Myc through association with Miz-1
TLDR
A Myc-associated transcription factor, Miz-1, arrests cells in G1 phase and inhibits cyclin D-associated kinase activity and upregulates expression of the cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) inhibitor p15INK4b by binding to the initiator element of the p15inks4b promoter.
An alternative pathway for gene regulation by Myc
TLDR
The data suggest a model for how gene repression by Myc may occur in vivo and identify a novel POZ domain Zn finger protein (Miz‐1) that specifically interacts with Myc, but not with Max or USF.
EVALUATION OF A MODIFIED DOUBLE-DISC SYNERGY TEST FOR DETECTION OF EXTENDED SPECTRUM β-LACTAMASES IN AMPC β-LACTAMASE-PRODUCING PROTEUS MIRABILIS
TLDR
MDDST seems to have enhanced potential for the detection of ESBLs in AmpC β-lactamase-producing P. mirabilis, and is superior to DDST and as sensitive as NCCLS-PDCT.
Sipl1 and Rbck1 Are Novel Eya1-Binding Proteins with a Role in Craniofacial Development
TLDR
By morpholino-mediated knockdown, it is demonstrated that the Sipl1 and Rbck1 orthologs are involved in different aspects of zebrafish development, with characteristic defects in ear and branchial arch formation.
Characterization of the interaction between the human DNA topoisomerase IIbeta-binding protein 1 (TopBP1) and the cell division cycle 45 (Cdc45) protein.
TLDR
The results suggest that human TopBP1 is involved in the formation of the initiation complex of replication in human cells and is required for the recruitment of Cdc45 to origins of DNA replication.
Lipid Signaling via Pkh1/2 Regulates Fungal CO2 Sensing through the Kinase Sch9
TLDR
The identified Sch9 is a Cst6/Rca1 kinase that links CO2 adaptation to lipid signaling via Pkh1/2 in fungi and this pathway is conserved in pathogenic yeast species, which highlights identified key players as potential pharmacological targets.
Capnellenes from the Soft Coral Dendronephthya rubeola
Four new acetoxycapnellenes 1–4, the first epoxyprecapnellene 5, along with the known dihydroxycapnellene 6 and monoacetoxycapnellene 7, have been isolated from the soft coral Dendronephthya rubeola.
Bispectral Index (BIS) May Not Predict Awareness Reaction to Intubation in Surgical Patients
TLDR
It is shown that a BIS value between 50 and 60 prior to intubation is inadequate to prevent an awareness reaction to endotrachealintubation during propofol/alfentanil anesthesia.
