Genetic evidence of intra-cultivar variability within Iberian olive cultivars
- M. S. Lopes, D. Mendonça, K. M. Sefc, F. Gil, A. Machado
- Biology
- 1 December 2004
The work shows that the current designations of olive cultivars fall short of describing the genetic variability among economically important plant material, and a thorough investigation of the existing variability will prove of major importance for both management and economic production of olive trees.
Isolation and characterization of simple sequence repeat loci in Rubus hochstetterorum and their use in other species from the Rosaceae family
- M. S. Lopes, G. B. Maciel, D. Mendonça, F. Gil, A. Machado
- Biology
- 1 September 2006
The identification of microsatellite loci in Rubus hochstetterorum provides an important tool for the characterization and conservation of wild populations of this species and allowed cross-species amplification in at least one of the other three tested species from the Rosaceae family.
Development and characterization of microsatellite loci from Olea europaea
- F. Gil, M. Busconi, A. Machado, C. Fogher
- Biology
- 1 December 2006
Twelve simple sequence repeat loci were developed from a genomic library of the olive tree, of which 12 revealed to be polymorphic and informative, ranging from two to 14 alleles.
