Annonaceous acetogenins: recent progress.
TLDR
The Annonaceous acetogenins are promising new antitumor and pesticidal agents that are found only in the plant family Annonaceae and exhibit their potent bioactivities through depletion of ATP levels via inhibiting complex I of mitochondria and inhibiting the NADH oxidase of plasma membranes of tumor cells.
Antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of aqueous and methanolic extracts of Jordanian plants: an ICBG project
TLDR
There was a significant linear correlation between antioxidant activity and total phenolic content for aqueous and methanolic extracts, suggesting that phenolic compounds were the predominant antioxidant components in the investigated plant species.
Determination of Cadmium and Lead in Different Cigarette Brands in Jordan
TLDR
The concentrations of Cd and Pb in cigarettes were significantly different between cigarette brands tested, and the results were compared with other worldwide studies.
Acceptance and Attitudes Toward COVID-19 Vaccines: A Cross-Sectional Study from Jordan
TLDR
Systematic interventions are required by public health authorities to reduce the levels of vaccines hesitancy and improve their acceptance and these interventions should take the form of reviving the trust in national health authorities and structured awareness campaigns.
Determination of hypericin content in Hypericum triquetrifolium Turra (Hypericaceae) growing wild in Jordan
TLDR
The relatively high hypericin content of the H. triquetrifolium in this study encourages the introduction, cultivation, and biological evaluation of hypericum specie in Jordan.
New colchicinoids from a native Jordanian meadow saffron, colchicum brachyphyllum: isolation of the first naturally occurring dextrorotatory colchicinoid.
TLDR
One of these colchicinoids isolated has a novel ring system, to which it is ascribed the trivial name (+)-demecolcinone (9), and it represents the first naturally occurring dextrorotatory col chicinoid.
GC-MS Analysis and Bioactivity Testing of the Volatile Oil from the Leaves of the Toothbrush Tree Salvadora persica L
TLDR
Using Disc Diffusion Test, it was found that the extract of the leaves has a considerable antibacterial effect on several different oral aerobic bacteria with comparable results to known antibiotics.
Two new mono-tetrahydrofuran ring acetogenins, annomuricin E and muricapentocin, from the leaves of Annona muricata.
TLDR
Both 1 and 2 showed significant cytotoxicities against six types of human tumors, with selectivities to the pancreatic carcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma cell lines.
Annonaceous acetogenins as natural pesticides: potent toxicity against insecticide-susceptible and -resistant German cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae).
TLDR
Most tested acetogenins performed better than the conventional insecticides against both stages of both strains of the German cockroach, and no growth regulation effects were caused by any of the compounds tested.
