Experimental investigations (240 rats) and clinical observations (30 patients) have shown repeated open lavages to be effective in the postoperative period for the treatment of purulent peritonitis.
The experience with surgical treatment of foreign bodies of the stomach and intestine in 127 patients is summarized. In presence of acute foreign bodies, the use of drugs increasing intestinal peristalsis, or causing vomiting is not recommended.
The classification of chronical bleeding gastroduodenal ulcer in elderly and senile patients, considering the blood loss severity and concurrent pathology, was proposed.
