By improving habitat quality on their farms through establishing more semi-natural habitats or enhancing the flower availability in semi- natural habitats, farmers can promote reproduction of a number of functionally important bee species and the pollination services they provide.
Impact of nitrogen deposition on larval habitats: the case of the Wall Brown butterfly Lasiommata megera
Monitoring data from the Netherlands indeed show a greater decline at higher critical load exceedance of nitrogen deposition, which suggests that microclimatic cooling through excess nitrogen contributes to the recent decline of L. megera.
