We compare the prevalence of H2O2--producing Lactobacillus species in women with or without bacterial vaginosis. H2O2--producing facultative Lactobacillus species were found in the vaginas of 37 (92.5%) of 40 normal women and 3 (4.1%) of 72 women with BV. Anaerobic Lactobacillus species (which do not produce H2O2) were isolated from 12 (16.6%) of 72 women(More)
There are presented data of sensitivity to a range of antibiotics of the main microorganisms related with the problem "recurrent bacterial vaginosis". G. vaginalis are sensitive in 34% to metronidazole, and 82% to clindamycin. Atopobium spp. and HP/+/Lactobacillus spp. are resistant to metronidazole and sensitive to clindamycin.
Atrazine frequently contaminates soil, groundwater, rivers, and ponds. It is well know that acute doses (1–5 mM) of atrazine induce massive generation of singlet oxygen by blocking photosystem II. The sublethal concentrations of this herbicide, similar to those found in the environment, also reduce growth and disrupt photosynthesis in a long-term aspect,(More)
This study examines neonatal group B streptococcal (GBS) colonization and its relation to early-onset GBS disease (EOGBSD), based upon the experience of leading obstetrics and gynecology centers in Bulgaria. The objectives of the study were to update neonatal colonization rates and to assess relationships between clinically differentiated cases(More)
The date of direct microscopic preparation (DMP) from gastric aspirate were compared with microbiological investigations of the same gastric aspirate, the ear secretion, blood culture in 112 newborn premature babies, on the day of their birth. A negative (-) DMP (without leucocytes and microorganisms) completely coincided with negative (-) cultures in 94(More)
OBJECTIVE To establish the incidence of cervicovaginal infections in patients with preterm and term deliveries. MATERIALS AND METHODS 88 pregnancies with no previous detectable risk factors have been included in a retrospective study. 48 patients delivered at term and 40 had delivery between 24 and 37 weeks of gestation. A vaginal swab for bacterial(More)
UNLABELLED Asymtomatic infection with group B streptococci in pregnant women, the screening methods concerning colonized patients and the therapeutic approach towards then are still under discussion. PURPOSE To determine the effectiveness and clinical use of the selective media Granada in the diagnosis of beta-haemolytic contamination in pregnant women.(More)
UNLABELLED The aim of the study is to assess the microbe find in the secretion of the open surgical wounds of the Cesarean Section and the perineal wounds. 81 young mothers have been examined--57 with open perineal wounds on 5th day after the delivery and 24 with open surgical wounds of Cesarean Section on the 7th day after the operation.
