Melatonin, the darkness hormone, synchronizes several physiological functions to light/dark cycle. Besides the awake/sleep cycle that is intuitively linked to day/night, daily variations in memory acquisition and innate or acquired immune responses are some of the major activities linked to melatonin rhythm. The daily variation of these complex processes is… (More)
In this poster paper, we present an overview of CiênciaBrasil, a research social network involving researchers within the Brazilian INCT program. We describe its architecture and the solutions adopted for data collection, extraction, and deduplication, and for materializing and visualizing the network.
Savanna plant communities change considerably across time and space. The processes driving savanna plant species diversity, coexistence and turnover along environmental gradients are still unclear. Understanding how species respond differently to varying environmental conditions during the seedling stage, a critical stage for plant population dynamics, is… (More)
Scientific studies are usually developed by contributions from different researchers. Analyzing such collaborations is often necessary, for example, when evaluating the quality of a research group. Also, identifying new partnership possibilities within a set of researchers is frequently desired, for example, when looking for partners in foreign countries.… (More)
The invasive success of exotic grass species has been linked to a better physiological performance under a variety of environmental conditions. Several studies showed that disturbances such as fire and herbivory might favor invasions by exotic grasses in detrimental of native species. However, studies comparing how native and exotic grasses respond to… (More)
Changes in land use may lead to increased soil nutrient levels in many ecosystems (e.g. due to intensification of agricultural fertilizer use). Plant species differ widely in their response to differences in soil nutrients, and for savannas it is uncertain how this nutrient enrichment will affect plant community dynamics. We set up a large controlled… (More)
