The gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist Cetrorelix is in advanced clinical development for the control of endogenous gonadotrophin secretion during the course of a fertility programme. The aim of the present study was to investigate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Cetrorelix following single and multiple s.c. administration of different(More)
Spontaneous and isolated dissection of the superior mesenteric artery is a rare and often fatal event which has been successfully treated by surgery in several reported cases. We present a patient with acute mesenteric ischemia due to superior mesenteric artery dissection who was successfully treated by percutaneous endovascular placement of a Wallstent.
Specimens of apocrine and eccrine sweat collected without and after pilocarpine stimulation from smokers and non-smokers exposed to tobacco smoke were investigated for the presence of nicotine. The concentrations were determined by radioimmunoassay, so that the values obtained represent the concentrations of nicotine plus its metabolites, e.g. cotinine.(More)
Thioctic acid (TA), a racemate of R-(+)- and S-(-)-enantiomers of alpha-lipoic acid, acts as a powerful lipophilic, free-radical scavenger and is used in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy. This trial investigated the dose-linearity of enantiomer pharmacokinetics following the oral administration of single doses of 50 to 600 mg TA (formulation provided by(More)
The cardiocirculatory responses to equianaesthetic concentrations (MAC 0.5 and MAC 1.0 plus 67% N2O) of halothane, methoxyflurane, enflurane and isoflurane were studied in a total of 35 closed-chest dogs during ventilation controlled to produce normocapnia. Each anaesthetic produced a dose-related decrease in mean arterial pressure and in values reflecting(More)
This study investigates the presence of drugs in apocrine sweat. The samples were collected from the axillary perspiration of 25 hs. The determination of the drugs was performed by radioimmunoassay. The concentrations measured represent the sum of drugs and there metabolites. Measurable drugs concentrations of THC, benzodiazepine, cocaine, barbiturate,(More)
AIMS Thioctic acid (TA), glibenclamide and acarbose are widely used to either alone or concomitantly treat patients suffering from noninsulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM). This study systematically investigated drug-drug interactions between TA and glibenclamide and TA and acarbose. METHODS Fourteen male and 10 female healthy volunteers participated a(More)
The presence of methadone was investigated in 24-h perspiration samples obtained from patients receiving daily maintenance doses of the drug. The samples were collected from the axillary region. The concentrations measured by radioimmunoassay ranged from 8.3 ng/cm2 per 24 h up to 25.3 ng/cm2 per 24 h. The concentrations determined by RIA are the sum of(More)
