Estimating the reproducibility of psychological science
A large-scale assessment suggests that experimental reproducibility in psychology leaves a lot to be desired, and correlational tests suggest that replication success was better predicted by the strength of original evidence than by characteristics of the original and replication teams.
A practical solution to the pervasive problems ofp values
- E. Wagenmakers
- PsychologyPsychonomic bulletin & review
- 1 October 2007
The BIC provides an approximation to a Bayesian hypothesis test, does not require the specification of priors, and can be easily calculated from SPSS output.
Redefine statistical significance
The default P-value threshold for statistical significance is proposed to be changed from 0.05 to 0.005 for claims of new discoveries in order to reduce uncertainty in the number of discoveries.
Bayesian inference for psychology. Part II: Example applications with JASP
This part of this series introduces JASP (http://www.jasp-stats.org), an open-source, cross-platform, user-friendly graphical software package that allows users to carry out Bayesian hypothesis tests for standard statistical problems.
Bayesian Cognitive Modeling: A Practical Course
Part I. Getting Started: 1. The basics of Bayesian analysis 2. Getting started with WinBUGS Part II. Parameter Estimation: 3. Inferences with binomials 4. Inferences with Gaussians 5. Some examples…
AIC model selection using Akaike weights
It is demonstrated that AIC values can be easily transformed to so-called Akaike weights, which can be directly interpreted as conditional probabilities for each model.
Promoting an open research culture
Author guidelines for journals could help to promote transparency, openness, and reproducibility Transparency, openness, and reproducibility are readily recognized as vital features of science (1,…
A manifesto for reproducible science
This work argues for the adoption of measures to optimize key elements of the scientific process: methods, reporting and dissemination, reproducibility, evaluation and incentives, in the hope that this will facilitate action toward improving the transparency, reproducible and efficiency of scientific research.
An EZ-diffusion model for response time and accuracy
- E. Wagenmakers, H.L.J. van der Maas, R. Grasman
- EconomicsPsychonomic bulletin & review
- 1 February 2007
This work studied the performance of the EZ-diffusion model in terms of parameter recovery and robustness against misspecification by using Monte Carlo simulations and the model was also applied to a real-world data set.
Striatum and pre-SMA facilitate decision-making under time pressure
- B. Forstmann, G. Dutilh, E. Wagenmakers
- PsychologyProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
- 11 November 2008
Functional neuroimaging showed that cueing for speed activates the striatum and the pre-supplementary motor area, brain structures that are part of a closed-loop motor circuit involved in the preparation of voluntary action plans.
