The Vienna classification of gastrointestinal epithelial neoplasia
- R. Schlemper, R. Riddell, H. Yamabe
- MedicineGut
- 1 August 2000
The differences between Western and Japanese pathologists in the diagnostic classification of gastrointestinal epithelial neoplastic lesions can be resolved largely by adopting the proposed terminology, which is based on cytological and architectural severity and invasion status.
Mucinous cystic tumors of the pancreas: clinicopathological features, prognosis, and relationship to other mucinous cystic tumors.
- G. Zamboni, A. Scarpa, G. Klöppel
- MedicineAmerican Journal of Surgical Pathology
- 1 April 1999
The clinicopathological features of 56 patients with mucinous cystic tumors of the pancreas were studied and it was concluded that the biologic behavior of MCTs is predictable on the basis of the extent of invasion.
Three subtypes of gastric argyrophil carcinoid and the gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma: a clinicopathologic study.

The N‐terminal 34 kDa fragment of Helicobacter pylori vacuolating cytotoxin targets mitochondria and induces cytochrome c release
- A. Galmiche, J. Rassow, P. Boquet
- Biology, ChemistryEMBO Journal
- 1 December 2000
The pathogenic bacterium Helicobacter pylori produces the cytotoxin VacA, which is implicated in the genesis of gastric epithelial lesions, and co‐transfection of DNA encoding Bcl‐2, known to block mitochondria‐dependent apoptotic signals supported the in vivo mechanism of VacA action.
Histological Typing of Endocrine Tumours
- E. Solcia, G. Klöppel, L. Sobin
- Medicine, BiologyInternational Histological Classification of…
- 2000
Endocrine Tumours of the Adenohypophysis is a histological classification of endocrine tumours that focuses on the areas of Adrenal and Extra-adrenal Paraganglia and Parathyroid Glands.
Development of neuroendocrine tumors in the gastrointestinal tract of transgenic mice. Heterogeneity of hormone expression.
Data indicate that neuroendocrine tumors arise both in beta cell and S-cell subpopulations of transgenic mice carrying insulin-promoted oncogenes and in some secretin-immunoreactive cells of small intestinal mucosa.
Gastric Carcinoids and Neuroendocrine Carcinomas: Pathogenesis, Pathology, and Behavior
- G. Rindi, C. Bordi, S. Rappel, S. La Rosa, M. Stolte, E. Solcia
- MedicineWorld Journal of Surgery
- 1 February 1996
It was concluded that correct clinicopathologic subtyping may predict the clinical behavior of gastric endocrine tumors.
TNM staging of neoplasms of the endocrine pancreas: results from a large international cohort study.
- G. Rindi, M. Falconi, B. Wiedenmann
- MedicineJournal of the National Cancer Institute
- 16 May 2012
Though both TNM staging systems were independent predictors of survival, the UICC/AJCC/WHO 2010 TNM stages showed very large 95% confidence intervals for each stage, indicating an inaccurate predictive ability.
Characterisation of gastric ghrelin cells in man and other mammals: studies in adult and fetal tissues
It is concluded that, ghrelin is produced by well-defined cell types, which in the past had been labelled differently in various mammals mostly because of the different size of their secretory granule.
