Edge-centric Computing: Vision and Challenges
- P. López, A. Montresor, E. Rivière
- Computer ScienceCCRV
- 30 September 2015
This position paper position that a new shift is necessary in computing, taking the control of computing applications, data, and services away from some central nodes to the other logical extreme of the Internet, and refers to this vision of human-centered edge-device based computing as Edge-centric Computing.
Sub-2-Sub: Self-Organizing Content-Based Publish and Subscribe for Dynamic and Large Scale Collaborative Networks
- S. Voulgaris, E. Rivière, Anne-Marie Kermarrec, M. V. Steen
- Computer Science
- 2006
Sub-2-Sub is presented, a collaborative self-organizing publish/subscribe system deploying an unstructured overlay network that supports both value-based and interval-based subscriptions and relies on an epidemic-based algorithm.
Sub-2-Sub: Self-Organizing Content-Based Publish Subscribe for Dynamic Large Scale Collaborative Networks
- S. Voulgaris, E. Rivière, Anne-Marie Kermarrec, M. V. Steen
- Computer ScienceInternational Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Systems
- 2006
S UB-2-SUB is presented, a collaborative self-organizing publish/subscribe system deploying an unstructured overlay that relies on an epidemic-based algorithm in which peers continuously exchange subscription information to get clu stered to similar peers.
SPLAY: Distributed Systems Evaluation Made Simple (or How to Turn Ideas into Live Systems in a Breeze)
- Lorenzo Leonini, E. Rivière, P. Felber
- Computer ScienceSymposium on Networked Systems Design and…
- 22 April 2009
SPLAY is an integrated system that facilitates the design, deployment and testing of large-scale distributed applications, and allows developers to express algorithms in a concise, simple language that highly resembles pseudocode found in research papers.
Evaluation of AMD's advanced synchronization facility within a complete transactional memory stack
- D. Christie, J. Chung, E. Rivière
- Computer ScienceEuropean Conference on Computer Systems
- 13 April 2010
Measurements on a wide range of benchmarks indicate that the overheads traditionally associated with software transactional memories can be significantly reduced with the help of ASF.
VoroNet: A scalable object network based on Voronoi tessellations
- Olivier Beaumont, Anne-Marie Kermarrec, L. Marchal, E. Rivière
- Computer ScienceIEEE International Parallel and Distributed…
- 26 March 2007
The theoretical analysis of thesystem proves that routing in VoroNet can be achieved in a poly-logarithmic number of hops in the size of the system, and it is shown that Voro net can be built and maintained in a fully decentralized way.
Peer to Peer Multidimensional Overlays: Approximating Complex Structures
- Olivier Beaumont, Anne-Marie Kermarrec, E. Rivière
- Computer ScienceInternational Conference on Principles of…
- 17 December 2007
It is argued that an approximation of a complex structure is enough to provide a native support of range queries and this stems from the fact that neighbours are important while the exact space partitioning associated to a given peer is not as crucial.
Rappel: Exploiting interest and network locality to improve fairness in publish-subscribe systems
- J. Patel, E. Rivière, Indranil Gupta, Anne-Marie Kermarrec
- Computer ScienceComput. Networks
- 28 August 2009
StreamHub: a massively parallel architecture for high-performance content-based publish/subscribe
- Raphaël Barazzutti, P. Felber, Stefan Weigert
- Computer ScienceDistributed Event-Based Systems
- 29 June 2013
This paper depart from the use of broker overlays, where each server must support the whole range of operations of a pub/sub service, as well as overlay management and routing functionality, and proposes instead a novel and pragmatic tiered approach to obtain high-throughput and scalable pub/ sub for clusters and cloud deployments.
Elastic Scaling of a High-Throughput Content-Based Publish/Subscribe Engine
- Raphaël Barazzutti, Thomas S. Heinze, E. Rivière
- Computer ScienceIEEE International Conference on Distributed…
- 30 June 2014
A mechanism for dynamic scaling, both out and in, of stateful and stateless pub/sub operators, a local and global elasticity policy enforcer maintaining high system utilization and stable end-to-end latencies, and an evaluation using real-world tick workload from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and encrypted content-based filtering.
