Characteristics of Selected Strains of Bacillus cereus.
Biochemical and morphological characteristics of 17 strains of B. cereus, including 10 isolated from confirmed foodborne outbreaks, were studied by routine methods, finding no single feature typified pathogenic strains.
Acidolin: an antibiotic produced by Lactobacillus acidophilus.
Acidolin has a low molecular weight, is acidic in nature, possesses a yellow-brown color, and is highly hygroscopic and thermostable and it is more active against vaccinia than polio virus.
Single Broth for the Differentiation of Streptococcus lactis from Streptococcus cremoris
- E. Mikolajcik
- 1 April 1964
The procedure herewith presented is comparatively simple and direct, utilizes only one medium and a single incubation temperature, and is based on the principle that organisms belonging to the species S. lactis will decarboxylate arginine, whereas those classified as S. cremoris will not.
Selected physico-chemical characteristics of bovine colostrum immunoglobulin.
Three immunoglobulin preparations isolated from bovine colostrum by ammonium sulfate fractionation and repeated ion-exchange column chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 had sedimentation values ranging from 18.2 to 19.2 and extinction coefficients of 11.8, indicating that immunoglOBulin contained 21 disulfide bonds per mole.
