It is demonstrated that topically administered sodium nitrite protects the rat kidney against I/R injury and dysfunction in vivo via the generation, in part, of xanthine oxidoreductase-catalyzed NO production.

Treatment with etanercept reduces the development of inflammation and tissue injury events associated with spinal cord trauma and it is clearly demonstrated that TNF-α inhibitor significantly ameliorated the recovery of limb function.

Results clearly demonstrate that melatonin treatment exerts a protective effect and part of this effect may be due to inhibition of the expression of adhesion molecule and peroxynitrite‐related pathways and subsequent reduction of neutrophil‐mediated cellular injury.
