Multiparasitism of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae: competition in the egg stage between Aphidius matricariae and Ephedrus cerasicola
- E. B. Hågvar
- Biology
- 1 June 1988
Multiparasitism of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) by the solitary aphidiid parasitoids Aphidius matricariae Haliday and Ephedrus cerasicola Starý was studied in the laboratory at 22…
Invertebrate activity under snow in a South-Norwegian spruce forest
- S. Hågvar, E. B. Hågvar
- Environmental Science, Biology
- 2011
It is hypothesized that certain fungi known to decompose litter beneath snow (snow molds) represent a valuable food source for winter-active Collembola, Acari and Cholevidae larvae and support the idea of subnivean food chains.
Fecundity and intrinsic rate of increase of the aphid parasitoid Ephedrus cerasicola Starý (Hym., Aphidiidae)
- E. B. Hågvar, T. Hofsvang
- Biology
- 12 January 1990
Species within the genus Ephedrus seem to have a very high fecundity compared with other genera of Aphidiidae.
Blow fly responses to semiochemicals produced by decaying carcasses
- H. Johansen, M. Solum, G. Knudsen, E. B. Hågvar, H. Norli, A. Aak
- Biology, MedicineMedical and Veterinary Entomology
- 1 March 2014
The significant interaction between fly sex and carcass age highlights behavioural differences between male and female blow flies which can be exploited in blow fly trapping.
Duration of development and longevity inAphidius ervi andAphidius platensis [Hym.: Aphidiidae], two parasites ofMyzus persicae [Hom.: Aphididae]
- T. Hofsvang, E. B. Hågvar
- BiologyEntomophaga
- 1 March 1975
Differences in longevity between the sexes were small and dependent on temperature and food, and was not significantly influenced by the different host plants during parasite development.
Different introduction methods of Ephedrus cerasicola Starý to control Myzus persicae (Sulzer) in small paprika glasshouses
- T. Hofsvang, E. B. Hågvar
- Biology
- 26 August 2009
A population of aphids and parasites were maintained throughout the season (June-October 1977) and the yield of paprika was about equal in house B and C, in spite of that the maximum aphid density in house C was about 6 times as high as in house A.
Effect of potato plants expressing snowdrop lectin (GNA) on the performance and colonization behaviour of the peach-potato aphid Myzus persicae
- Solveig Sørbu Aasen, E. B. Hågvar
- Biology
- 1 May 2012
Transgenic potato plants expressing snowdrop lectin at a relatively low level, maximum 0.2% of the soluble protein, have no significant impact on the performance of apterous M. persicae once on the plant, but may have a potential in controlling the aphids by altering the colonization behaviour of alates.
Six-year Malaise trapping of the leaf miner Chromatomyia fuscula (Diptera: Agromyzidae) and its chalcidoid parasitoid complex in a barley field and its boundary
- E. B. Hågvar, T. Hofsvang, N. Trandem, K. G. Saeterbo
- Environmental Science, Biology
- 2013
It is indicated that the boundary was part of the parasitoids' foraging/overwintering area, and thatThe boundary was more important to the Parasitoids than to their leaf miner host, and Boundaries therefore seem to be important for the control of C. fuscula.
Checklist of primary parasitoids and hyperparasitoids (Hymenoptera, Apocrita) on aphids (Hemiptera, Aphididae) from Norway
- K. Westrum, I. Klingen, T. Hofsvang, E. B. Hågvar
- Biology
- 2010
A Norwegian checklist of naturally occurring parasitoids and hyperparasitoids that are known to emerge from aphid species is presented and should be updated periodically to assist researchers and policy makers within the field of biodiversity, natural resource management and applied entomology.
