OBJECTIVES To analyze characteristic features and details on motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) of the cricothyroid and vocalis muscles from single-pulse cortical transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in normal subjects to characterize cortical motor representation of laryngeal muscles. STUDY DESIGN Prospective, experimental investigation on healthy(More)
Purification of pig kidney Na+,K(+)-ATPase at low concentrations of SDS (0.5%) allowed copurification of several peripheral membrane proteins. Some of these associated proteins were identified as components of the membrane cytoskeleton. Here we describe two novel globular proteins of of Mr 77,000 (pasin 1) and Mr 73,000 (pasin 2) which copurify and(More)
To evaluate the impact of mild hypoglycemia on CNS function in healthy adults, we measured brain stem auditory evoked potentials and P300 potentials (elicited by cognitive processing of auditory stimuli) during hypoglycemic or euglycemic insulin clamps (80 mU.m-2.min-1). In the hypoglycemic clamp study (n = 8), plasma glucose was allowed to fall from 4.6 to(More)
The present study was designed to assess the validity of the Torque Test as a measure of functional lateral dominance in children. One hundred forty-nine children were administered the Torque Test and The Harris Test of Lateral Dominance. A low but statistically significant correlation was found between torque and total lateral dominance.
