Oemona hirta (F.) is a New Zealand native longicorn beetle, whose larvae bore into the wood of branches and stems of living trees and vines, causing serious damage. To explore effective methods for maintaining laboratory colonies and biology of immature stages of this species we evaluated four laboratory rearing methods with both natural and artificial… (More)
Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), is a highly contagious, acute enteric viral disease of swine characterized by vomiting, watery diarrhea, dehydration and death. To identify and characterize the field PEDVs associated with the outbreaks of severe diarrhea in piglets in Jiangxi, 2013, the complete genome… (More)
The full-length genome sequence of a variant porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) strain, CH/GDZQ/2014, was determined. The isolate was a variant strain with a relatively far relationship with the PEDV strains previously identified in the same area between 2011 and 2012 and was genetically distinct from the CV777-based vaccine strain currently being used… (More)
The complete genome sequence of a variant of porcine deltacoronavirus, isolated from a diarrheal piglet and designated CH/JXJGS01/2016, was sequenced and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that CH/JXJGS01/2016 shares the highest nucleotide and amino acid identities with the Chinese strain NH (GenBank accession number KU981059).
Porcine Deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) is a newly emerged enteropathogenic coronavirus that causes diarrhea and mortality in neonatal piglets. PDCoV has spread to many countries around the world, leading to significant economic losses in the pork industry. Therefore, a rapid and sensitive method for detection of PDCoV in clinical samples is urgently needed. In… (More)
The complete genome sequence of a porcine kobuvirus (PKoV) variant strain, CH/KB-1/2014 from Jiangxi, China, with a 90-nucleotide deletion in the 2B gene, was determined and characterized. This study provides a better understanding of the molecular characteristics and evolution of PKoV in Jiangxi, China.
Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a highly contagious intestinal disease, resulting in substantial economic losses to the swine industry worldwide. In this study, three assays, namely a conventional reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), a SYBR Green I real-time RT-PCR and a TaqMan… (More)

The whole-complete genome sequence of a strain of duck tembusu virus (DTMUV), DTMUV/CH/2014, affecting layer ducks in China, was determined and characterized. Compared with DTMUV sequences available in GenBank, DTMUV/CH/2014 has 3 amino acid mutations located in the capsid, prM, and NS3 genes of DTMUV/CH/2014.
We sequenced the complete genome of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) strain JX/CH/2016. Phylogenetic analysis based on the sequences of the open reading frame 5 (ORF5) gene revealed that this strain belongs to subgenotype IV. This is the first report of the complete genome sequence of PRRSV-IV.
