Three years ago, an algorithmic problem on tiling of a plane was set as a contest puzzle. After presentating various aspects to the puzzle, we give the main answers received. The winner was Rouben Ter Minassian.
Father Sébastien Truchet (1657-1729) is genuinely recognized as a mathematician (especially for “Truchet tilings”); however, very few typographers know that he is the real inventor of the typographic point or even that he designed the famous Romain du roi, which could be considered the first digital font!
The macro-commands of the PSTricks package offer impressive additional capabilities to (L)TEX users, by giving them direct access to much of the power of PostScript, including full support for color. The purpose of this article is to outline the implementation of a few of the features of PSTricks (version 0.94).
This package allow to add a three dimensional lighten effect on characters (PostScript fonts), using the PstLightThreeDText macro, and curves (opened or closed), using the PstLightThreeDGraphic macro, with various customization parameters. ∗Documentation revised by Herbert Voß
This paper investigates the bond strength of flat directly-bonded structured monocrystalline silicon X-ray mirrors. We report on the sample manufacturing method and tensile strength testing measurements used to study the influence of annealing.
