Three-dimensional reconstruction of a solid-oxide fuel-cell anode
This work demonstrates the use of dual-beam focused ion beam–scanning electron microscopy to make a complete three-dimensional reconstruction of a solid-oxide fuel-cell electrode, and calculates critical microstructural features such as volume fractions and surface areas of specific phases, three-phase boundary length, and the connectivity and tortuosity of specific subphases.

These hierarchical nanomorphologies are coupled to significantly enhanced exciton dissociation, which consequently contribute to photocurrent, indicating that the nanostructural characteristics at multiple length scales is one of the key factors determining the performance of PTB7 copolymer, and likely most polymer/fullerene systems, in OPV devices.
Fabrication of Alumina Nanotubes and Nanowires by Etching Porous Alumina Membranes
Porous alumina membranes are commercially available and have been widely used in recent nanoscale research, for example, as templates in nanowire fabrication through electrodeposition. In this
Effectively suppressing dissolution of manganese from spinel lithium manganate via a nanoscale surface-doping approach.
The surface-doped lithium manganate demonstrates enhanced electrochemical performance and provides encouraging evidence that surface doping could be a promising alternative to improve the cycling performance of lithium-ion batteries.
A nanostructured cathode architecture for low charge overpotential in lithium-oxygen batteries.
A cathode architecture based on nanoscale components that results in a dramatic reduction in charge overpotential to ~0.2 V is reported, which provides the basis for future development of lithium-oxygen cathode materials that can be used to improve the efficiency and to extend cycle life.
Cycling Behavior of NCM523/Graphite Lithium-Ion Cells in the 3–4.4 V Range: Diagnostic Studies of Full Cells and Harvested Electrodes
Energy density of full cells containing layered-oxide positive electrodes can be increased by raising the upper cutoff voltage above the present 4.2 V limit. In this article we examine aging behavior
Ambient-stable tetragonal phase in silver nanostructures.
A stable body-centred tetragonal phase is observed in silver nanoparticles with fivefold twinning even at ambient conditions, indicating that the nanoparticle is composed of a highly strained core encapsulated in a less-strained sheath that helps stabilize the strained core.
A lithium–oxygen battery based on lithium superoxide
It is shown that crystalline LiO2 can be stabilized in a Li–O2 battery by using a suitable graphene-based cathode, which could open the way to high-energy-density batteries based onLiO2 as well as to other possible uses of this compound, such as oxygen storage.
