This is the first report of environmental P. aeruginosa strains carrying the blaSPM-1 gene in Brazil. This study analyzed the occurrence of metallo-beta-lactamase genes in clinical samples of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from the Hospital São Vicente de Paulo, RS.
