Combined Gas Chromatography and Electroantennogram Recording of Insect Olfactory Responses
- D. Struble, H. Arn
- Biology
- 1984
When EAG is used separately from the purification method, e.g., gas chromatography (GC), it is necessary to isolate and transfer small amounts of purified components to the EAG preparation, which does not take full advantage of the GC resolution capabilities and may result in a loss of essential minor pheromone components.
SEX PHEROMONE COMPONENTS OF AN ALBERTA POPULATION OF EUROPEAN CORN BORER, OSTRINIA NUBILALIS (HBN.) (LEPIDOPTERA: PYRALIDAE)

- BiologyCanadian Entomologist
- 1 March 1987
Abstract The sex pheromone components of European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hbn.), from southern Alberta were identified in washes and extracts of abdomen tips from calling female moths. This…
Identification of 4 Sex Pheromone Components Isolated from Calling Females of Mamestra brassicae

Determination of the antennal responses of field-collected male moths to a standard test blend of pheromone components shows that two pheromonal phenotypes of the dingy cutworm occur throughout the prairie region of western Canada and at least two others occur in eastern Canada.

- Chemistry
- 1 August 1975
A mixture of Z-11-hexadecen-1-ol acetate and Z-11-hexadecen-1-ol in a ratio of 9:1 was found to be a specific attractant for the adult male clover cutworm, Scotogramma trofolii (Rottenberg), in the…
Incidence of White Pine Blister Rust in Maine After 70 Years of a Ribes Eradication Program
- W. D. Ostrofsky, T. Rumpf, D. Struble, R. Bradbury
- Environmental Science
- 1988
Survey results indicate that a significant reduction in the incidence of white pine blister rust on a statewide level has been achieved through the Ribes control effort.
Multicomponent Sex Pheromone in Agrotis segetum: Preliminary Analysis and Field Evaluation
- H. Arn, E. Städler, R. Buès
- Chemistry

Wind tunnel and field experiments indicate that ( Z)-5-decenyl acetate, (Z)-7-dodecenylacetate and probably (Z-9-d Dodecenol acetate are essential for attraction.
Sex Pheromone Components in the New Zealand Brownheaded Leafroller. Ctenopseustis obliquana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)
- H. Young, R. Galbreath, M. Benn, V. Holt, D. Struble
- Chemistry
- 1 April 1985
The sex pheromone of Ctenopseustis obliquana was found to contain (Z)-8-tetradecenyl acetate and (Z-5-tributary of acetate in approximately 4:1 ratio, in contrast with the phersomones thus far reported from species of the tribe Archipini elsewhere in the world.
