A human phase-response curve to light
The Subjective Meaning of Good Sleep, An Intraindividual Approach Using the Karolinska Sleep Diary
It was concluded that most subjective sleep measures tend to covary across conditions and that “good sleep” is mainly a question of sleep continuity.
The meaning of good sleep: a longitudinal study of polysomnography and subjective sleep quality
It was concluded that objective measures of sleep continuity were closely reflected in perceived sleep quality and that sleep quality essentially means sleep continuity.

Results indicate that, in healthy young subjects, subjective mood is influenced by a complex and nonadditive interaction of circadian phase and duration of prior wakefulness, and the nature of this interaction is such that moderate changes in the timing of the sleep-wake cycle may have profound effects on subsequent mood.
Good sleep — its timing and physiological sleep characteristics
The results indicate that the duration of wakefulness prior to sleep and the timing of sleep determine its physiological expression, which in turn determines its subjective impression.

Mathematical and statistical analysis of circadian rhythms
Circadian Rhythms and the Human
Masking in humans: the problem and some attempts to solve it.
Different types of masking are discussed together with an account of the masking effect that the sleep-wake cycle exerts upon the circadian rhythms of body temperature and urinary excretion. The…
Some circulatory responses to exercise at different times of day.
The circadian rhythm in heart rate responses to exercise should be considered when a heart rate variable is used as a criterion in fitness testing or as an index of physiological strain.
