Analysis of anthocyanins in foods by liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis.
Recent developments in the methodology for the measurement of anthocyanins that offer several advantages over classical methods of analysis are reviewed, including capillary electrophoresis (CE), which has significantly increased peak resolution and improved the detection limits. Expand
Analytical characterization of lipopolysaccharide antigens from seven strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Lipopolysaccharide antigens from seven different serotype strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa have been analyzed for neutral carbohydrate, amino sugars, lipid, protein, 3-deoxy-manno-octulosonic acid, and phosphorus. Expand
Biosynthesis of Cephalosporin C: I. Factors Affecting the Fermentation.
No evidence was found for precursor action such as is found in penicillin fermentations, but the ability of resting cells to produce antibiotic was demonstrated and l-Cystine had a greater enhancing effect on formation of cephalosporin C than on formation in synthetic media. Expand
Enzymatic conversions of starch.
Methods for the enzymatic conversion of starch, involving hydrolases and nonhydrolyzing enzymes, as well as the role of microorganisms producing such enzymes, are surveyed, covering the period from the early 19th century up to 2009. Expand
Separation of blackcurrant anthocyanins by capillary zone electrophoresis
The four major anthocyanins present in juice of the blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) may be completely separated by capillary zone electrophoresis under strongly acidic conditions. The separation,Expand
New route for the synthesis of 3-deoxyaldos-2-uloses
Abstract 3-Deoxy- D - erythro - and 3-deoxy- D - threo -hexos-2-uloses, 3-deoxy- D - glycero -pentos-2-ulose, and 4-hydroxy-2-oxobutyraldehyde (“3-deoxytetros-2-ulose”) were obtained in about 20% netExpand
Conformation of acyclic derivatives of sugars.
The data indicate that the favored conformation of the d -ribose and d -xylose derivatives is a “sickle” arrangement derived from the planar, zig-zag conformation by rotation, in which the steric interaction between substituents at C-2 and C-4 is relieved. Expand
