Endotoxin-induced release of interleukin-6 from rat medial basal hypothalami.
It was found that the MBH synthesizes and releases IL-6 via a nonneuronal source in vitro and comparison studies of neural and neuroendocrine tissues revealed that the anterior and posterior pituitaries released larger amounts of bioactive IL- 6 than theMBH or parietal cortex during a 4-h incubation. Relationships between renal cytoplasmic and nuclear aldosterone-receptors.
The time-course of generation of the 3 H-aldosterone-labelled cytosol and nuclear receptor species was studied in vivo and in vitro and imply a close association between nuclear aldosterone-receptor complexes and intact DNA. Expand
The neuronal growth-associated protein GAP-43 induces filopodia in non-neuronal cells.
The neuron-specific protein GAP-43 is associated with the membrane of the nerve growth cone and thus may be important to the activity of this distinctive neuronal structure as well as regulating cell membrane structure and enhancing extension of filopodial processes. Expand
Mitogen activation of resting lymphocytes exposes cryptic insulin receptors.
It is suggested that resting lymphocytes express insulin receptor mRNA and protein and that mitogen activation exposes cryptic insulin receptors present in the plasma membrane of resting lymphocyte. Expand
Antibody binding to the juxtamembrane region of the insulin receptor alters receptor affinity.
Results indicate that binding of 960 antibody to the juxtamembrane region of the insulin receptor alters the affinity of the receptor for insulin. Expand
