Planetary radio astronomy observations from voyager 1 near saturn.
The Voyager 1 planetary radio astronomy experiment detected two distinct kinds of radio emissions from Saturn, one of which is strongly polarized, bursty, tightly correlated with Saturn's rotation, and exhibits complex dynamic spectral features somewhat reminiscent of those in Jupiter's radio emission. Targeted and Extended Acetylation of Histones H4 and H3 at Active and Inactive Genes in Chicken Embryo Erythrocytes*
The targeted acetylation of histones H3 and H4 at the GAPDH andCA genes is consistent with a role in transcriptional initiation and implies that transcriptional elongation does not necessarily require hyperacetylation. Expand
Post-translational glycosylation of coronavirus glycoprotein E1: inhibition by monensin.
The intracellular sites of biosynthesis of the structural proteins of murine hepatitis virus A59 have been analyzed using cell fractionation techniques, suggesting that transport of this glycoprotein is inhibited between the trans Golgi cisternae and the cell surface. Expand
Active-site mutations impairing the catalytic function of the catalytic subunit of human protein phosphatase 2A permit baculovirus-mediated overexpression in insect cells.
Combination of the baculovirus and yeast systems provides a strategy whereby the structure-function of PP2Ac may be fully explored, a goal which has previously proven difficult, owing to the stringent auto-regulatory control of PP 2Ac protein levels in vivo. Expand

The class A aspartate transcarbamoylase from Pseudomonas fluorescens was purified to homogeneity with retention of full catalytic and regulatory functions and is proposed to be a D3 dodecamer with an arrangement of subunits analogous to that of the class B ATCase molecules. Expand
Planetary Radio Astronomy Observations from Voyager 2 Near Saturn
While crossing the ring plane at a distance of 2.88 Saturn radii, the spacecraft detected an intense noise event extending to above 1 megahertz and lasting about 150 seconds, interpreted to be a consequence of the impact, vaporization, and ionization of charged, micrometer-size G ring particles distributed over a vertical thickness of about 1500 kilometers. Oligomeric structure of the multifunctional protein CAD that initiates pyrimidine biosynthesis in mammalian cells.
Electron microscopic studies of rotary-shadowed preparations of CAD have confirmed that, while small amounts of other oligomeric forms are present, the CAD monomer is primarily associated into cyclic hexamers with an open planar appearance. Expand
Mammalian dihydroorotase: nucleotide sequence, peptide sequences, and evolution of the dihydroorotase domain of the multifunctional protein CAD.
A model involving DHOase gene duplication and insertion into an ancestral bifunctional locus is favored, although these families may have arisen by convergent evolution. Expand
Mutations in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae type 2A protein phosphatase catalytic subunit reveal roles in cell wall integrity, actin cytoskeleton organization and mitosis.
Temperature-sensitive mutations were generated in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae PPH22 gene that, together with its homologue PPH21, encode the catalytic subunit of type 2A protein phosphatase (PP2A).Expand
Regulation of an Escherichia coli/Mammalian Chimeric Carbamoyl-phosphate Synthetase*
The construction of a 58-kDa chimeric CPSase composed of Escherichia coli CPS.A catalytic subdomains and the mammalian regulatory subdomain is described, suggesting that the carboxyl half of the sub domain is essential for transmitting the allosteric signal but not for ligand binding. Expand
