The isolation of a keratinolytic-producing Bacillus subtilis strain and the characterization of the exceptional dehairing properties of its subtilisin-like keratinase are reported, which may completely replace sodium sulfide in tanneries and enhance its industrial potential.
Herd-level risk factors for Neospora caninum seroprevalence in dairy farms in southern Brazil.
Neosporosis as a cause of abortion in dairy cattle in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil.
Clinical Presentation Resembling Mucosal Disease Associated with 'HoBi'-like Pestivirus in a Field Outbreak.
The first report of a mucosal disease-like clinical presentation associated with natural infection with 'HoBi'-like pestivirus occurring in a cattle herd is described, and it appears that these atypical pestiviruses are most likely underdiagnosed in Brazilian cattle.
Lysosomal Storage Disease Caused by Sida carpinifolia Poisoning in Goats
A neurologic disease characterized by ataxia, hypermetria, hyperesthesia, and muscle tremors of the head and neck was observed for 2 years in a flock of 28 Anglo-Nubian and Saanen goats on a farm…

The clinical and pathological features of this lysosomal storage disease were similar to those observed in Swainsona, Oxytropis, Astragalus, and Ipomoea poisonings with multiple cytoplasm vacuoles in neurons, acinar pancreatic cells, hepatocytes, and renal tubular cells.
Infections with Avian Pathogenic and Fecal Escherichia coli Strains Display Similar Lung Histopathology and Macrophage Apoptosis
Both pathogenic and non-pathogenic fecal strains of avian E. coli produce focal infections in the avian lung, and these are accompanied by inflammation and cell death in the infected areas.
Immunopathological investigations on bovine digital epidermitis
An unidentified branching filamentous organism (presumed to be an actinomycete) was consistently present in the sections of samples from mild interdigital lesions.
