This paper presents the EPFL proposal to MPEG-4 video coding standardization activity 1]. The proposed technique is based on a novel approach to audiovisual data compression entitled dynamic coding. The newly born multimedia environment supports a plethora of applications which can not be covered adequately by a single compression technique. Dynamic coding(More)

In this paper, we present an overview of the dynamic coding approach, together with recent developments carried out in this framework. Dynamic coding is a general approach to the problem of visual data representation in the context of multimedia. This approach consists in a dynamic combination of multiple representation models and segmentation strategies.(More)
Presented herein is a case report of a laparoscopic gastric electrical stimulator implantation for drug-refractory gastroparesis. Technical aspects of the procedure, as well as a review of the existing literature, are discussed. Gastric electrical stimulation offers a new alternative for the treatment of drug-refractory gastroparesis.
This paper describes an extension of a dynamic video coding scheme to provide object scalable functionalities. As a particular instance of the dynamic coding concept, the coding scheme considered here jointly optimizes video data partition and representation modes. Indeed, as there exists no universal video coding method, dynamic coding insures the choice(More)
In this paper, a new approach to the problem of visual data representation in the framework of multimedia is introduced. The approach, named dynamic coding, consists in a dynamic combination of multiple representation models and segmentation strategies. Given an application , these two degrees of freedom are assembled so as to yield a speciic proole which(More)
