Evidence for the hormonal function of a CRF-related diuretic peptide (Locusta-DP) in Locusta migratoria
Synthetic Locusta-DP stimulated fluid secretion and cyclic AMP production by Malpighian tubules isolated in vitro and increased the rate of amaranth clearance in starved locusts to levels comparable with those observed during post-feeding diuresis, providing unequivocal evidence of a hormonal function for LocustA-DP in the control of primary urine production.
THE EFFECTS OF ACHETA DIURETIC PEPTIDE ON ISOLATED MALPIGHIAN TUBULES FROM THE HOUSE CRICKET ACHETA DOMESTICUS
Acheta diuretic peptide is a corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)-related peptide found in head extracts of the house cricket Acheta domesticus that causes a dose-dependent increase in fluid secretion by cricket Malpighian tubules isolated in vitro, and the apparent EC50 is within the physiological range for a peptide hormone.
HAEMOLYMPH AND TISSUE TITRES OF ACHETAKININS IN THE HOUSE CRICKET ACHETA DOMESTICUS: EFFECT OF STARVATION AND DEHYDRATION
The presence of achetakinin-like material in haemolymph suggests that these peptides are released in vivo and function as circulating neurohormones.
Target organ specificity of major neuropeptide stimulants in locust excretory systems
Data suggest that, in the initial phase of post-prandial diuresis, urine flow will exceed fluid uptake in the hindgut, thereby allowing excess water to be eliminated.
Revisiting the Importance of Secondary Dissolution Pores in Tertiary Sandstones along the Texas Gulf
Secondary pores are a well-documented diagenetic dissolution feature in siliciclastic sandstones, especially immature feldsparand rock-fragment-rich sandstones. The importance of dissolution pores,…
DIVERSITY OF CONE SNAILS ( MOLLUSCA : CONIDAE ) ALONG KERALA
A systematic survey was conducted to document the diversity of cone snails along Kerala coast and found that C. milneedwardsi included in the scheduled list I of Wildlife (Protection) Act of India has been recorded during the study from the trawl by-catch.
SEA RANCHING OF COMMERCIALLY IMPORTANT BLUE SWIMMING CRAB PORTUNUS PELAGICUS (LINNAEUS, 1758) IN PARANGIPETTAI COAST
- Environmental Science, Biology
An attempt has been made to release the laboratory reared crab seeds to some identified areas to restore the decreased population of blue swimming crab Portunus pelagicus.

Occurrence , distribution and abundance of Halobates micans Eschscholtz , 1822 ( Heteroptera , Gerridae ) along the southeastern Brazilian
- Environmental Science
Data collected during an oceanographic cruise along the southeastern Brazilian coast from Cape Frio (22° 58’ S) and Paraná (27° 50’ S) in March 1982 showed that the marine insect Halobates micans…
