Using a newly prepared nearly monodisperse (Mw/Mn < 1.05) high molar mass (Mw = 1.3 107 g/mol) poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) sample, we successfully, for the first time, made the conformation…

LLS and FTIR Studies on the Hysteresis in Association and Dissociation of Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) Chains in Water
- He Cheng, and Lei Shen, Chi Wu
- Materials Science
- 16 February 2006
Using a combination of static and dynamic laser scattering, we examined the association and dissociation of linear poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) chains in dilute aqueous solutions. There…

Progress and perspectives in developing polymeric vectors for in vitro gene delivery.
Four critical, but often over-looked issues for successful DNA-polymer intracellular trafficking are identified and discussed, especially the recent confirmation that it is free cationic polymer chains in the solution mixture of DNA and polymer that actually promote gene transfection and the polycationic chains within the polyplexes mainly play a protective role.
Onset of tethered chain overcrowding.

As the crystallization temperature Tx increased, the PEO or PLLA lamellar crystal thickness d(L) increased as well as the reduced tethering density sigma; of the PS chains, resulting in the onset of tethered PS chains overcrowding in solution.
Globule-to-Coil Transition of a Single Homopolymer Chain in Solution

- 4 May 1998
Using a nearly monodisperse high molar mass poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) sample, we successfully made the conformation change of individual PNIPAM chains from a coil to a fully collapsed…
Light Scattering Study of the Formation and Structure of Partially Hydrolyzed Poly(acrylamide)/Calcium(II) Complexes
The Ca2+ concentration and hydrolysis degree [−COO-] dependence of the self-complexation of partially hydrolyzed poly(acrylamide) (HPAM) chains in CaCl2 aqueous solution was systematically…
