How does the development of the life insurance market affect economic growth? Some international evidence
This article investigates the effect of life insurance on economic growth and what conditions affect the insurance-growth nexus. These conditions include the degree of financial development, private… Expand
Phylogeny of Psephenidae (Coleoptera: Byrrhoidea) based on larval, pupal and adult characters
The first comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of Psephenidae, based on 143 morphological characters of adults, larvae and pupae and coded for 34 taxa, representing three outgroups and 31 psephenid genera, including four undescribed ones, indicated that the monophyly of the family and subfamilies is supported. Antitumor effects of recombinant BCG and interleukin-12 DNA vaccines on xenografted murine bladder cancer.
Electroporation using multi-rBCG plus mIL-12 could be effective immunotherapy for existing bladder cancer because the antitumor effects correlated with the elicitation of Th1 lymphocytes and natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxic immune responses. Expand
A Review of the Genus Cucujus Fabricius (Insecta: Cucujoidea: Cucujidae) from Taiwan, Japan, and China, with Descriptions of Two New Species and the Larvae of Cucujus mniszechi Grouvelle
A review of the genus Cucujus Fabricius from Taiwan, Japan, and China, with descriptions of two new species and the larvae of C. mniszechi Grouvelle, which are described for the first time. Expand
A review of Phyllotreta Chevrolat in Taiwan (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae: Alticini).
Species of the genus Phyllotreta Chevrolat in Japan and Taiwan are reviewed and Lectotypes and paratypes are designated for P. downesi insularis. Expand

It is demonstrated that magnolol significantly inhibited angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo evidenced by the attenuation of hypoxia and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced tube formation of human umbilicalascular endothelial cells, vasculature generation in chicken chorioallantoic membrane and Matrigel plug, and suggest that Magnolol may be a potential drug for human bladder cancer therapy. Immunotherapy for bladder cancer using recombinant bacillus Calmette-Guerin DNA vaccines and interleukin-12 DNA vaccine.
Highly immunopotent recombinant vaccines of bacillus Calmette-Guerin DNA were produced that elicited T helper 1 immune responses with a high serum interferon-gamma level, inhibited tumor growth and prolonged the survival of tumor bearing mice. Expand
Treatment of bladder carcinomas using recombinant BCG DNA vaccines and electroporative gene immunotherapy

- Cancer Gene Therapy
- 1 March 2004
The cloning of recombinant mycobacterial DNA vaccines is reported and the ability of multicomponent and multisubunit DNA vaccines to enhance Th1-polarized cytokine-mediated responses as well as effector cell responses are demonstrated to be highly effective in the treatment of bladder cancer. Expand
Supplementation of Magnolol Attenuates Skeletal Muscle Atrophy in Bladder Cancer-Bearing Mice Undergoing Chemotherapy via Suppression of FoxO3 Activation and Induction of IGF-1
- Meng-Chuan Chen, Yen-Lin Chen, Chi-Feng Lee, Chih-Huang Hung, T. Chou
- Biology, Medicine
- PloS one
- 24 November 2015
Findings support that magnolol is a promising chemopreventive supplement for preventing chemotherapy-induced skeletal muscle atrophy associated with cancer cachexia by suppressing muscle protein degradation, and inflammatory responses, as well as increasing IGF-1-mediated protein synthesis. Expand
