Of the isolated compounds, hernandonine, laurolistine, 7-oxohernangerine and lindechunine showed significant anti-human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) integrase activity with IC(50) values of 16.3, 7.7, 18.2 and 21.1 microM, respectively.

The caffeoylquinic acids and their mixture, exhibiting significant antitussive, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory effects, could be considered as the main effective ingredients of FTF, and they may act in a collective and synergistic way.

A pair of racemic indolizidine enantiomers, (+)-homocrepidine A and (-)-1, were isolated from Dendrobium crepidatum along with the known alkaloid crepidine and separated by HPLC using a chiral chromatographic substrate, which represents the first successful example of resolving indolIZidine racemic mixtures.

A reliable method was developed for the simultaneous quantification of 3-caffeoylquinic acid, 3,4-dicaffeoyLquinic Acid,3,5- dicaffeoyslquinIC acid, astin A,Astin B, astIn C, astersaponin A and astersapons C, and the qualified separations were achieved only on a C18 column packed with 2.7 μm particles.
