A phase modulator circuit is described showing improved broadband capability. A phase error less than 2° can be achieved over more than 25% bandwidth. Circuit realizations in microstrip, fin-line and waveguide technique are also presented.
A general equivalent circuit representation of symmetrical junction circulators in E- and H-plane configuration is presented. Assuming single-resonant circuits for the eigen-immittances, the frequency response of conventional circulators is calculated. Design rules are given to achieve maximum bandwidth.
A new principle for switchable circulators is presented. Circulation sense is reversed by means of semiconductors in the RF circuit instead of reversing the magnetic bias field. A circulator is realized with a transition time of one nanosecond.
