Increased serotonergic activity is discussed as an important pathogenetic factor in schizophrenia. Further support for this hypothesis is difficult to obtain due to the lack of valid indicators of the brain's serotonin system. A great deal of evidence discovered through human and animal studies suggests that a weak loudness dependence of auditory evoked(More)
BACKGROUND Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) preserves function and improves survival. The late effects of PPCI on left ventricular remodeling, however, have not yet been investigated on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI). METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-five patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) treated with PPCI underwent(More)
The majority of monitored fish stocks globally is fully or over exploited, that is, at or below their maximum sustainable yield stock levels. Despite this resource situation international trade in fish products have been increasing for a long time. An export tax on fish and fish products, as an alternative to Pigouvian harvest or effort taxes, is introduced(More)
High-resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry imaging enables the spatial mapping and identification of biomolecules from complex surfaces. The need for long time-domain transients, and thus large raw file sizes, results in a large amount of raw data ("big data") that must be processed efficiently and rapidly. This can(More)
A statistical survey about the results of treatment of Pentoxifyllin (Trental) in acute and long-standing sensorineural hearing losses is given. The pharmacological effect of viscosity lowering in such patients is demonstrated. The role of erythrocytes and their behaviour in relation to the viscosity of blood its showed by means of literature.
67 patients who are suffering from a non-acute perceptive hearing loss were treted by several vasoactive medicaments. Besides pharmacological aspects of derivatives of di-ethyl-amino-ethyl-alcohol and of xanthine were discussed. The therapeutical results were subjected to comparing views.
Methods The study population consisted of 20 patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary PCI. Cardiac MRI was performed within 10 days. The infarct size and the transmural extent of infarction (TEI) and mean TEI was quantified on delayed-enhancement images using 36 segments for each slices. AAR was quantified on T2-weighted(More)
