We screened 57 Sahiwal cattle (Bos indicus) and 53 Murrah, 19 Nili-Ravi and 11 Egyptian buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) to detect the polymorphisms at kappa-casein (CSN3) gene using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). CSN3 A and B alleles were identified by PCR-RFLP using the restriction enzymes that detect the underlying nucleotide changes at codon 136 (Taql)… (More)
Binary [Cu(PAIC)(H2O)2]·H2O (1) and mixed ligand [Cu(PAIC)(L)]·2H2O complexes, where PAIC=phenylalanine imidazole carboxylic acid, L=diimine coligands [2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) (2) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) (3)] have been synthesized and fully characterized by analytical and spectral techniques. The X-ray structure of [Cu(PAIC)(phen)]·2H2O (3) shows a N4O… (More)
An amino acid Schiff base (R) capable of recognizing Zn(2+) ions selectively and sensitively in an aqueous medium was prepared and characterized. Upon addition of Zn(2+) ions, the receptor exhibits fluorescence intensity enhancements (~40 fold) at 460 nm (quantum yield, Φ=0.05 for R and Φ=0.18 for R-Zn(2+)) and can be detected by naked eye under UV light.… (More)
A propargyl arms containing Schiff base (L) was synthesized by the condensation of 1-[2-hydroxy-4-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)phenyl]ethanone with trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane. The structure of L was characterized by IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The UV-Visible spectral behavior of L in different… (More)
Two Schiff bases were prepared by the condensation of o-allyl substituted 2,4-dihydroxy acetophenone with 1,2-diaminopropane (L1) and ethanediamine (L2) and characterized by elemental analysis, and ESI-MS, IR, UV-Vis, 1H and 13C NMR spectral techniques. The effect of solvents with respect to different polarities on UV-Vis and emission spectra of L1 and L2… (More)
Cytogenetical and gynaecological studies were carried out on an eight year old buffalo with irregular breeding history. The animal had mosaicism of two cell lines (51,XX in 22.67% and 50,XX in 67.33%) with normal reproductive organs and the tract.
