The first lattice calculation of the QCD phase transition using chiral fermions with physical quark masses using 2+1 quark flavors, spatial volumes between (4 fm) and (11 fm)(3) and temperatures between 139 and 196 MeV finds no metastability near the peak and a peak height which does not change when a 5 fm spatial extent is increased to 10 fm.

We report on a study of the finite-temperature QCD transition region for temperatures between 139 and 196 MeV, with a pion mass of 200 MeV and two space-time volumes: 2 4 3 × 8 and 3 2 3 × 8 , where…

Results from the first truly physical calculations of the cosmic phase transition are described and a groundbreaking first-principles investigation into composite dark matter is described, studies impossible with previous state-of-the-art methods and resources.
Lattice QCD determination of neutron-antineutron matrix elements with physical quark masses

Matrix elements of six-quark operators are needed to extract new physics constraints from experimental searches for neutron-antineutron oscillations. This work presents in detail the first lattice…
Chiral symmetry breaking in nearly conformal gauge theories

- 1 November 2009
We present new results on chiral symmetry breaking in nearly conformal gauge theories with fermions in the fundamental representation of the SU(3) color gauge group. The number of fermion flavors is…
Skewness and kurtosis of net baryon-number distributions at small values of the baryon chemical potential

- Physics
- 16 August 2017
We present results for the ratios of mean (MB), variance (sigma(2)(B)), skewness (SB) and kurtosis(kappa B) of net baryon-number fluctuations obtained in lattice QCD calculations with physical values…
Stealth Dark Matter: Dark scalar baryons through the Higgs portal
- T. Appelquist, R. Brower, O. Witzel
- Physics
- 13 March 2015
We present a new model of "Stealth Dark Matter": a composite baryonic scalar of an SU(ND) strongly coupled theory with even ND ≥ 4. All mass scales are technically natural, and dark matter stability…
