Adenovirus Serotype 5 Hexon Mediates Liver Gene Transfer
Fatty streak formation occurs in human fetal aortas and is greatly enhanced by maternal hypercholesterolemia. Intimal accumulation of low density lipoprotein and its oxidation precede monocyte…
It is demonstrated that LDL oxidation and formation of fatty streaks occurs already during fetal development, and that both phenomena are greatly enhanced by maternal hypercholesterolemia.
Akt induces enhanced myocardial contractility and cell size in vivo in transgenic mice
- G. Condorelli, A. Drusco, J. Ross
- Biology, MedicineProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences…
- 17 September 2002
It is found that Akt overexpression produced cardiac hypertrophy at the molecular and histological levels, with a significant increase in cardiomyocyte cell size and concentric LVHypertrophy in vivo by activating the glycogen synthase kinase3-β/GATA 4 pathway.
Deletion of the p66Shc longevity gene reduces systemic and tissue oxidative stress, vascular cell apoptosis, and early atherogenesis in mice fed a high-fat diet
- C. Napoli, I. Martìn‐padura, P. Pelicci
- BiologyProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences…
- 5 February 2003
The results support the concept that p66Shc−/− may play a pivotal role in controlling systemic oxidative stress and vascular diseases and suggest it might represent a molecular target for therapies against vascular diseases.
Nitric oxide as a signaling molecule in the vascular system: an overview.
- L. Ignarro, G. Cirino, A. Casini, C. Napoli
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology
- 1 December 1999
The goal of this review was to highlight the early research that led to the current understanding of the pathophysiologic role of NO in cardiovascular medicine and to discuss the possible mechanism of some drugs interfering with NO signaling cascade.

Congestive Heart Failure and Cognitive Impairment in an Older Population
The cross‐sectional relationship between CHF and CI in an older population and the identification of modifiable risk factors for cognitive impairment for older persons is examined.
Quality of Life Determinants and Hearing Function in an Elderly Population: Osservatorio Geriatrico Campano Study Group
- F. Cacciatore, C. Napoli, P. Abete, E. Marciano, M. Triassi, F. Rengo
- 1 November 1999
It is suggested that hearing aids may protect against cognitive impairment and disability, improving quality of life of aged people and the use of hearing aids reduced GDS score.
