Should we use proportional sampling for species–area studies?
It is shown that proportional sampling can detect species–area relationships (SARs) more effectively than uniform sampling and the proposed model, together with proportional sampling, allowed the distinction between sampling effects and other mechanisms.
How large is large enough for insects? Forest fragmentation effects at three spatial scales
Influences of landscape structure on diversity of beetles associated with bracket fungi in Brazilian Atlantic Forest
Redescription of immature stages and adults of Nilio (Nilio ) brunneus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Nilioninae)
It is observed that N. brunneus feeding on the lichen Parmotrema sp.
Cytogenetic analysis of Ctenostomini by C-banding and rDNA localization and its relevance to the knowledge of the evolution of tiger beetles (Coleoptera: Cicindelidae)
In this work, the first cytogenetic data on Neotropical Collyrinae is provided, by way of their karyotypes, C-banding and ribosomal genes (rDNA) localization using fluorescence in situ hybridization…
The phallus in Tettigoniidae (Insecta: Orthoptera: Ensifera): revision of morphology and terminology, and discussion on its taxonomic importance and evolution.
The exoskeletal morphology of the phallus in katydids, its components, and revised the terminology for them are studied, and potential functional relationships based on hypothetical morphological correlations between the shape of titillator and cerci are proposed.
New Records of Termite Hosts for Two Species of Hoplopyga, with Notes on the Life Cycle of Hoplopyga brasiliensis (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae)
The first report of larvae of Hoplopyga brasiliensis and H. singuhris are reported in nests of Cornitermes cumulans (Kollar) and Dwersitermes diversimiles (Silvestri) (Isoptera: Termitidae: Nasutitermitinae), respectively.
A new genus and species of katydids of the tribe Polyancistrini (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Pseudophyllinae) from Brazil, an apparent pest of Eucalyptus plantations
A new genus and species of polyancistrine katydid, Spinapecta alieniphaga gen. n. et sp. n. is described from Minas Gerais State, Southeastern Brazil. It is closely related to Polyancistrus Serville,…
Evaluation of the presence of glandular structures in preserved crickets (Orthoptera, Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae) using a comparative scanning electron microscopy technique
The method proposed here is an alternative to histological studies that cannot proceed due to the unavailability of well-preserved or recently collected specimens and can also be used to study other subsurface structures.
The first record of Cis chinensis Lawrence from Brazil, with the delimitation of the Cis multidentatus species-group (Coleoptera: Ciidae)
- C. Lopes-Andrade
- 24 April 2008
Cis chinensis Lawrence (Coleoptera: Ciidae) is recorded for the first time from Brazil and the Cis multidentatus species-group is delimited to encompass C. chinensis and the morphologically similar species C.Multidentatus.
