Baicalein inhibited the production of inflammatory cytokines through inhibition of NF-κB activation and IκBα phosphorylation and degradation in human mast cells, suggesting its usefulness in the development of novel anti-inflammatory therapies.

Fewer than 5% of community-onset E. coli bacteremia episodes in Southern Taiwan were due to ESBL-producers, and the trend was towards higher mortality in patients with ESBL, but the difference did not reach statistical significance compared with the mortality of patients with non-ESBL E.
