Testing the hypothesis that hypothermia-induced changes in visceral SND would be attenuated in middle-aged and aged compared with young Fischer 344 (F344) rats demonstrated that advancing chronological age alters the regulation of visceral S ND responses to progressive hypotherium, modifications that may contribute to the inability of aged individuals to adequately respond to acute bouts of hypotheria.
