Characteristics of the Mesophotic Megabenthic Assemblages of the Vercelli Seamount (North Tyrrhenian Sea)
- M. Bo, M. Bertolino, G. Bavestrello
- Environmental SciencePLoS ONE
- 3 February 2011
This study highlights the potential role of an isolated rocky peak penetrating the euphotic zone of a Tyrrhenian seamount to work as an aggregating structure, hosting abundant benthic communities dominated by suspension feeders, whose distribution may vary in accordance to the geomorphology of the area and the different local hydrodynamic conditions.

A leptomedusan hydroid forming large colonies on the fringing reefs of the Bunaken National Park (North Sulawesi, Indonesia), which is generally associated with two zoanthid species, Parazoanthus gracilis and ParZoanthus sp.
Mass Mortality Events in the NW Adriatic Sea: Phase Shift from Slow- to Fast-Growing Organisms
- C. D. Di Camillo, C. Cerrano
- Environmental Science, GeographyPLoS ONE
- 14 May 2015
The analysis of the times series of wave heights and temperature revealed that the conditions in summer 2011 were not so extreme as to justify severe mass mortality, suggesting the occurrence of other factors which triggered the disease.
Temperate mesophotic ecosystems: gaps and perspectives of an emerging conservation challenge for the Mediterranean Sea
- C. Cerrano, A. Bastari, F. Torsani
- Environmental ScienceThe European Zoological Journal
- 1 January 2019
Abstract Mesophotic habitats, hosting benthic assemblages totally unknown and unexpected in the early 2000s, are attracting an increasing interest from scientists. Realizing that many long living and…
Population dynamics of Eudendrium racemosum (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa) from the North Adriatic Sea
- C. D. Di Camillo, F. Betti, G. Bavestrello
- Environmental Science
- 25 May 2012
The gut content analysis revealed that the hydroid diet was based on larvae of other benthic animals, especially bivalves and that the amount of ingested preys changed during the year with a peak in summer when it was estimated an average predation rate of 13.7 mg C m−2 day−1.
Hydroids (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa): A Neglected Component of Animal Forests
- C. D. Di Camillo, G. Bavestrello, F. Boero
- Environmental ScienceMarine Animal Forests
- 20 March 2017
Information available about hydroid ecology is summarized, in order to emphasize the role of hydroids as forest formers, as well as their function in the bentho-pelagic coupling.

- C. D. Di Camillo, M. Bo, S. Puce, S. Tazioli, C. Froglia, G. Bavestrello
- Environmental Science
- 1 March 2008
The study of the abundance and the distribution of the two most common epibionts in relation to the crab revealed a different spatio‐temporal pattern of colonisation between the hydroid and the bryozoan.
