Serious liver disease induced by infliximab
TLDR
Two patients with RA who developed a serious liver disease associated with infliximab treatment are reported here and should alert rheumatologists to the possibility of new adverse reactions (liver injury) associated with the use of TNFα blockers in an autoimmune setting.
B Lymphocytes: Development, Tolerance, and Their Role in Autoimmunity—Focus on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
TLDR
B lymphocyte functions in autoimmunity and autoimmune diseases with a special focus on their abnormalities in systemic lupus erythematosus are described.
Are autoimmune diseases predictable?
TLDR
Current prediction in type 1 diabetes is the most accurate, but in the future, multiple antibodies test, in combination with the analysis of genetics, epigenetics and immunological anomalies in fine models may allow the precise prediction in autoimmune diseases.
Non-synonymous variant (Gly307Ser) in CD226 is associated with susceptibility to multiple autoimmune diseases.
TLDR
The results demonstrate that the coding variant rs763361 in CD226 gene is associated with multiple ADs in non-European populations.
Confirmation of an association between rs6822844 at the Il2-Il21 region and multiple autoimmune diseases: evidence of a general susceptibility locus.
TLDR
Meta-analysis results strongly reinforce this robust association between rs6822844 and multiple autoimmune diseases in both European-derived and non-European populations.
Evaluation of genetic association between an ITGAM non-synonymous SNP (rs1143679) and multiple autoimmune diseases.
TLDR
ITGAM may not be a general autoimmunity gene but this variant may be specifically associated with SLE and systemic sclerosis, and only found association for systemic sclerosis when the authors' results were combined with published results.
Neutrophil CD64 expression, procalcitonin and presepsin are useful to differentiate infections from flares in SLE patients with SIRS
TLDR
High neutrophil CD64 expression, presepsin and procalcitonin levels are useful to differentiate infections from activity in SLE patients, and in most cases, a positive bioscore that includes these three markers demonstrate the presence of an infectious disease.
Efficacy and Safety of Anti–Interleukin 6 Receptor Monoclonal Antibody (Tocilizumab) in Colombian Patients With Takayasu Arteritis
TLDR
This study shows a clinical, biological, and radiological response in patients with refractory TA treated with TCZ, and major adverse effects related to TCZ were not evidenced during a period of at least 9 months of treatment.
Lupus Nephritis in Colombians: Contrasts and Comparisons with Other Populations
TLDR
The identified clinical- and laboratory-associated factors would assist earlier diagnosis and guide decisions on therapeutic interventions on this critical and frequent complication of SLE in Colombians.
Risk factors associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension in Colombian patients with systemic sclerosis: review of the literature.
TLDR
PAH may be a frequent complication of SSc in the Colombian population regardless of disease subtype, and the identified clinical and laboratory risk factors might assist earlier diagnosis and guide decisions on therapeutic interventions on this critical complication.
