Evolution of Delphacidae (Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea): combined‐evidence phylogenetics reveals importance of grass host shifts
TLDR
The results generally support the higher classifications of Delphacidae proposed by Asche, Emeljanov and Hamilton, and suggest that the rapid diversification of the Del phloem‐feeding insects was associated with host shifts to, and within, Poaceae, and specifically from C3 to C4 grasses.
Resolving phylogenetic relationships of Delphacini and Tropidocephalini (Hemiptera: Delphacidae: Delphacinae) as inferred from four genetic loci
TLDR
The topologies support the monophyly of Delphacinae and its basal split into three tribes, and provisionally support subdividing Delphicini into three clades, including a more broadly defined Numatina.
A new species of Omolicna (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoroidea: Derbidae) from coconut palm in Costa Rica and new country records for Omolicna brunnea and Omolicna triata.
TLDR
Based on both morphological and sequence data, the new subgenus Agoo is described for the new species Omolicna Fennah and the novel 18S primers specific to auchenorrhynchan insects were developed and presented.
A New Genus of New World Tropidocephalini (Hemiptera: Delphacidae: Delphacinae), with the Description of Two New Species
TLDR
Procidelphax, gen. nov., is easily distinguished from all other New World Tropidocephalini by being strongly dorsoventrally flattened, and having the median carina of the frons broadly forked ventrad.
Aethodelphax prairianus gen. et sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) and seven congeneric species from North American Delphacodes
TLDR
The new genus Aethodelphax gen. nov. is described to include one new species, A. prairianus sp.nov, found in the midwestern and southeastern states of the U.S., except A. caninus which is recorded from Arizona and New Mexico.
A REVIEW OF THE PLANTHOPPER GENUS NILAPARVATA (HEMIPTERA: DELPHACIDAE) IN THE NEW WORLD
ABSTRACT The delphacid genus Nilaparvata, previously recorded in the New World only from Puerto Rico and Nicaragua, is here reported from a variety of localities from Wisconsin and New Hampshire in
The planthopper genus Spartidelphax, a new segregate of Nearctic Delphacodes (Hemiptera, Delphacidae)
TLDR
The new genus Spartidelphax is described to house three species removed from the polyphyletic genus Delphacodes, which are coastal species native to eastern North America and probably feed exclusively on cordgrass.
A Redescription of the Caribbean Treehopper Genus Antillotolania Ramos (Hemiptera: Membracidae), with Two New Species
TLDR
The Caribbean treehopper genus Antillotolania Ramos, classified in the subfamily Stegaspidinae, is redescribed based on adult morphology and a key for the identification of adults is provided for the genus.
A new species of planthopper belonging to the genus Oecleus Stål, 1862 (Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea: Cixiidae) from coconut palm (Cocos nucifera L) in Jamaica.
TLDR
This new taxon is associated with coconut palm and was found while surveying palm plots with active cases of lethal yellowing (LY) and is the first report of the genus Oecleus from Jamaica.
