Mechanism of assembly of G protein betagamma subunits by protein kinase CK2-phosphorylated phosducin-like protein and the cytosolic chaperonin complex.
- Georgi L. Lukov, C. Baker, B. Willardson
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of Biological Chemistry
- 2006
The results reported here delineate a mechanism for Gbetagamma assembly in which a stable ternary complex is formed between PhLP, the nascent Gbeta subunit, and CCT that does not include Ggamma.
Ambient particulate matter accelerates coagulation via an IL-6-dependent pathway.
- G. Mutlu, D. Green, G. S. Budinger
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Clinical Investigation
- 1 October 2007
It is suggested that exposure to particulate matter triggers IL-6 production by alveolar macrophages, resulting in reduced clotting times, intravascular thrombin formation, and accelerated arterial thrombosis.
Mechanism of Assembly of G Protein βγ Subunits by Protein Kinase CK2-phosphorylated Phosducin-like Protein and the Cytosolic Chaperonin Complex*
- Georgi L. Lukov, C. Baker, B. Willardson
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of Biological Chemistry
- 22 May 2006
The results reported here delineate a mechanism for Gβγ assembly in which a stable ternary complex is formed between PhLP, the nascent Gβ subunit, and CCT that does not include Gγ.
Mitochondrial Complex III-generated Oxidants Activate ASK1 and JNK to Induce Alveolar Epithelial Cell Death following Exposure to Particulate Matter Air Pollution*
- S. Soberanes, D. Urich, G. S. Budinger
- BiologyJournal of Biological Chemistry
- 23 January 2009
It is concluded that particulate matter air pollution induces the generation of ROS primarily from site III of the mitochondrial electron transport chain and that these ROS activate the intrinsic apoptotic pathway through ASK1, JNK, and p53.
The Intrinsic Apoptotic Pathway Is Required for Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Lung Endothelial Cell Death1
- He Wang, I. Akinci, G. S. Budinger
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Immunology
- 1 August 2007
It is concluded that LPS and cycloheximide-induced death in HmVECs requires the intrinsic cell death pathway, but not the generation of reactive oxygen species.
Proapoptotic Bid is required for pulmonary fibrosis.
- G. Budinger, G. Mutlu, N. Chandel
- Medicine, BiologyProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences…
- 14 March 2006
It is reported that the proapoptotic Bcl-2 family member Bid is required for the development of pulmonary fibrosis after the intratracheal instillation of bleomycin.
Production and characterization of a polyclonal antibody to the c‐erbB‐3 protein: Examination of c‐erbB‐3 protein expression in adenocarcinomas
- D. Poller, I. Spendlove, R. J. Mayer
- BiologyJournal of Pathology
- 1 November 1992
Immunohistochemical expression of the c‐erbB‐3 protein appears to be a relatively common event in adenocarcinomas, and further studies are now warranted to establish the role of the C.B.3 protein in neoplasia.
Alveolar epithelial surface area-volume relationship in isolated rat lungs
- P. Miklavc, G. Mutlu, J. Guttmann
- Biology

Variable stretch pattern enhances surfactant secretion in alveolar type II cells in culture in culture andStretch-Induced Activation of AMP Kinase in the Lung Requires Dystroglycan.
Stretch-induced activation of AMP kinase in the lung requires dystroglycan.
- G. Budinger, D. Urich, Jonathan C. R. Jones
- Biology, MedicineAmerican Journal of Respiratory Cell and…
- 1 December 2008
Exposure to cyclic stretch activates the metabolic sensing pathway AMPK in the lung epithelium and supports a novel role for dystroglycan in this mechanotransduction.
