Molecular cloning and nucleotide sequence of the streptavidin gene.
- C. Argaraña, I. Kuntz, S. Birken, R. Axel, C. Cantor
- Biology, ChemistryNucleic Acids Research
- 25 February 1986
Using synthetic oligonucleotides as probes, the streptavidin gene is cloned from a genomic library of Streptomyces avidinii and the deduced amino acids sequence shows several interrupted blocks of homology with the amino acid sequence of chicken egg-white avidin.
Posttranslational tyrosination/detyrosination of tubulin
- H. Barra, C. Arce, C. Argaraña
- BiologyMolecular Neurobiology
- 2008
Data from biochemical, immunological, and genetic studies have been compiled in this review, with pertinent comments, with the hope of facilitating the comprehension of this particular aspect of the microtubule field.
Mucoidy, Quorum Sensing, Mismatch Repair and Antibiotic Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa from Cystic Fibrosis Chronic Airways Infections
- S. Feliziani, Adela M Luján, A. Smania
- BiologyPLoS ONE
- 10 September 2010
No link could be established between hypermutability and mutagenesis in mucA, lasR and mexZ, indicating that MRS-deficiency was not involved in the acquisition of these mutations, and only mutations in MRS genes could be related to an antibiotic resistance increase.
Interaction of Biotin with Streptavidin
- Martín González, L. Bagatolli, G. Fidelio
- ChemistryJournal of Biological Chemistry
- 25 April 1997
The data provide a rationale for previous suggestions that biotin binding induces an increase in protein tightness (structural cooperativity) leading, in turn, to a higher thermostability.
Characterization and crystallization of core streptavidin.

Release of [14C]tyrosine from tubulinyl-[14C]tyrosine by brain extract. Separation of a carboxypeptidase from tubulin-tyrosine ligase
- C. Argaraña, H. Barra, R. Caputto
- Biology, ChemistryMolecular and Cellular Biochemistry
- 24 February 1978
The carboxypeptidase previously described3 that releases tyrosine from tubulinyl-tyrosine was obtained from rat brain preparation free of tubulin-Tyrosine ligase and the former was active on denatured tubulin whereas the latter was not.
Engineering Pseudomonas fluorescens for Biodegradation of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene
- Mariela R. Monti, A. Smania, G. Fabro, M. .. Alvarez, C. Argaraña
- Engineering, BiologyApplied and Environmental Microbiology
- 1 December 2005
The nonpathogenic psychrotolerant rhizobacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 17400 was genetically modified for degradation of this priority pollutant, and this strain was able to use 2,4-dinitrotoluene as a sole nitrogen source and to completely degrade this compound as a cosubstrate.
Quorum-sensing-deficient (lasR) mutants emerge at high frequency from a Pseudomonas aeruginosa mutS strain.
- Adela M Luján, A. Moyano, Ignacio Segura, C. Argaraña, A. Smania
- BiologyMicrobiology
- 2007
The present study shows that mutS mS2 variants had defective LasR function due to simple but different point mutations along the lasR gene sequence, indicating that LasR inactivation is the main cause of mS1 phenotypic diversification and a non-functional LasR would confer a selective advantage in the late stationary phase.
nfxB as a Novel Target for Analysis of Mutation Spectra in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Mariela R. Monti, N. R. Morero, V. Miguel, C. Argaraña
- BiologyPLoS ONE
- 7 June 2013
The nfxB/Cipr system in combination with the luminescent reporter may be a valuable tool for studying mutational processes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, wherein the genes encoding the NfxB repressor and the associated efflux pump are conserved.
