This paper investigates various processor management techniques for improving the performance of mesh-connected multiprocessors. Three diierent techniques are analyzed. First, we use the smallest job rst (SJF) policy to improve the spatial parallelism in a mesh. Next, a policy called multitasking and multi-programming (M 2) is introduced. The M 2 scheme(More)
BACKGROUND/AIMS The blunted ventricular systolic and diastolic contractile responses to physical and pharmacological stress in cirrhosis are termed cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM). CCM has been known to involve multiple defects in the β-adrenergic signaling pathway. The aim of this study was to determine whether cirrhotic patients have blunted cardiac(More)
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) alters B-cell differentiation, as evidenced by a marked decrease in immunoglobulin M (IgM) secretion and in the number of antibody-forming cells (AFC) induced by antigenic stimulation. The objective of the present studies was to evaluate the effect of TCDD on the level of p27kip1, a cyclin-dependent kinase(More)
BACKGROUND Albuminuria is a surrogate marker of endothelial dysfunction and a predictor of cardiovascular events. Data are limited with regard to the relationship between albuminuria and subclinical atherosclerosis in a community-based cohort. We determined the association between albuminuria measured by the urine albumin creatinine ratio (UACR) and carotid(More)

We report our experience in coronary angioplasty and intravascular ultrasonography (IVUS) on a heavy, encircling, calcified lesion that was not dilated with the use of a cutting balloon and a non-compliant balloon. The angioplasty was successfully performed with a simple and inexpensive hugging balloon technique.
Lung cancer in never-smokers ranks as the seventh most common cause of cancer death worldwide, and the incidence of lung cancer in non-smoking Korean women appears to be steadily increasing. To identify the effect of genetic polymorphisms on lung cancer risk in non-smoking Korean women, we conducted a genome-wide association study of Korean female(More)
