Taxonomy and Phylogeny of the Dileptid Ciliate Genus Paradileptus (Protista: Ciliophora), With a Brief Review and Redescriptions of Two Species Isolated From a Wetland in Northern China
A detailed account of two Chinese populations of Paradileptus elephantinus and P. conicus including their living morphology, infraciliature, and molecular phylogenies based on 18S, 5.8S, and ITS ribosomal DNA sequences is given.

The morphology and infraciliature of a poorly-known colepid ciliate, Pinacocoleps tesselatus (Kahl, 1930) Foissner et al., 2008, collected from brackish-water biotope in Hangzhou Bay, China, were investigated using live observations and silver impregnations.
Morphology, taxonomy and molecular phylogeny of three marine peritrich ciliates, including two new species: Zoothamnium apoarbuscula n. sp. and Z. apohentscheli n. sp. (Protozoa, Ciliophora,…

Phylogenetic analyses based on SSU rDNA sequence data revealed that species with an alternately branched stalk cluster together in gene trees and probably represent an independent lineage within the genus Zoothamnium.
Large-scale phylogenomic analysis provides new insights into the phylogeny of the class Oligohymenophorea (Protista, Ciliophora) with establishment of a new subclass Urocentria nov. subcl.

Novel contributions to the peritrich family Vaginicolidae (Protista: Ciliophora), with morphological and phylogenetic analyses of poorly known species of Pyxicola, Cothurnia and Vaginicola
- Borong Lu, Lifang Li, Xiaozhong Hu, D. Ji, K. Al-Rasheid, Weibo Song
- BiologyZoological Journal of the Linnean Society
- 23 August 2019
It is suggested that the loricate species probably represent a distinct lineage in peritrich evolution and both genera Cothurnia and Thuricola are monophyletic.
Morphogenesis of the Ciliature During Sexual Process of Conjugation in the Ciliated Protist Euplotes raikovi
- Usman Asghar, Yong Chi, F. Gao
- BiologyFrontiers in Marine Science
- 5 January 2021
Comparisons of the morphogenetic process during conjugation demonstrate a considerably stable pattern within Euplotes while the patterns vary dramatically among different ciliate groups.

Integrative studies on the taxonomy and molecular phylogeny of four new Pleuronema species (Protozoa, Ciliophora, Scuticociliatia)
- Mingjian Liu, Yujie Liu, Weibo Song
- BiologyMarine Life Science & Technology
- 12 May 2022
The small subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA) gene tree shows that Pleuronema is polyphyletic comprising several separate clades, and all four new species cluster consistently with P. puytoraci KF840520 and P. setigerum FJ848874 within the core Pleuronematidae + Peniculistomatidae clade.
