In a model experiment, seed extracts were applied to different bacterial test organisms. Different fractions of seed extracts in petroleum ether (60-80 degrees C) of Lagerstroemia speciosa (Linn. ex. Murray) Pers. when applied to both Gram positive and Gram negative test bacteria, some fractions showed high antagonistic activity.
The problem of non-linear systems excited by random forces with known power spectral density functions and unspecified probability structure is considered. Sufficient, but not necessary, conditions on the input under which the response can be a Gaussian process are investigated. The approach is illustrated by investigating the hardening spring cubic(More)
The influence of protein, isolated from teak (Tectona grandis) seed upon albino rats with respect to some of their serum, liver and intestinal enzymes and liver lipids has been studied. The protein in question contains aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, glycine, alanine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, lysine, phenylalanine,(More)
Extracts from different parts of plants (1) including seeds are reported to act upon pathogenic microorganisms. A few active principles were isolated. The present preliminary report shows significant role of the seeds of Dolichos biflorus (Linn), locally known as Kulthi, against some test organisms using different fractions of defatted seed extracts with(More)
The effect of protein, isolated from Jute (Corchorus olitorius) seed was studied upon albino rats with respect to some of their serum, liver and intestinal enzymes and liver lipids. An increase in the body weight (including the weight of the liver) was noted in test animals after feeding with a Jute seed protein enriched diet. It was also observed that AST,(More)
Studies have been carried out on the protein solubility profile of Kulthi (Macrotylona uniflorus, Lam.) seed in aqueous solution over various pHs and at different concentrations of NaCl, Na2SO3, CaCl2, and MgCl2 at pH 8.0. Amino acid analysis of isolated protein identified 17 amino acids, 9 of which are essential. Gel-permeation chromatography on Sephadex(More)
