The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of electromagnetic waves (EMW) at 900 MHz. EMW were produced by a signal generator and were administered to mice via an antenna. The frequency of the waves was tested by a spectrum analyser and a frequency-meter. The emitted power was 0.25 mW. A total of 117 mice (59 prepubertal and 58 adult) was used.(More)
Bradykinin, a vasoactive peptide, increases during inflammation and induces the formation of prostaglandins through specific receptor activation. Two types of receptors mediate the biological effects of bradykinin, B1 and B2 receptors. Although B2 receptors are present in most tissues, B1 receptors are expressed after inflammatory stimuli or tissue injury.(More)
The present study aimed at determining the differences in plasma concentrations of traditional antiepileptics such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, and valproic acid in patients receiving monotherapy and combination therapy. In addition, the effect of gender and age on plasma drug concentration was evaluated in these patients. For this purpose, plasma trough(More)
AIMS The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the effects of Ginkgo biloba (EGb 761) on ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) injury in the rat bladder. METHODS A bladder I-R injury was induced by abdominal aorta occlusion by ischemia for 30 min, followed by 45 min reperfusion in rats. The rats were divided into four groups of 7 rats each; the control,(More)
In patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) level is known to be lower compared to that of the normal population. In the present study, we evaluated the influences of dialysis methods on the serum 25(OH)D3 level in patients with ESRD who are treated with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Thirty-nine peritoneal(More)
Septic shock has a high mortality rate due to the hypotension and circulatory disorder that occurs during its pathogenesis. Recently, humoral factors such as cytokines and nitric oxide became important in the complex pathophysiology of septic shock because there is a close relationship between the determined levels of these humoral factors and the responses(More)
It is known that digoxin, which is a liposoluble cardiac glycoside, is well absorbed from intestine. In the present study, the absorption rates of digoxin from rat duodenum and the proximal and terminal parts of small intestine were determined in vitro. The isolated everted duodenum and intestinal sacs were put into oxygenated Tyrode solution at 37 degrees(More)
The present study aimed to compare the effect of gender difference on hemodynamic consequences in the development of monocrotaline (MCT)-induced pulmonary hypertension in rat. The effect of antioxidant enzyme systems on the development of pulmonary hypertension mediated by the phytotoxin MCT and the effect of gender on these antioxidant systems were also(More)
It is believed that growth factors play an important role in vascular remodeling that is evident in pulmonary hypertension (PH) pathogenesis. In the present study, the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in serum and pulmonary artery samples of rats have been analyzed with monocrotaline (MCT)-induced PH after treatments with iloprost, bosentan,(More)
In this study, 6-[(4-arylidene-2-phenyl-5-oxoimidazolin-1-yl)phenyl]-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone and 4-[(4-arylidene-2-phenyl-5-oxoimidazolin-1-yl)phenyl]-1(2H)-phthalazinone derivatives were synthesized by reacting 6-(4-aminophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone or 4-(4-aminophenyl)-1(2H)-phthalazinone compound with different(More)
