Entangling Macroscopic Diamonds at Room Temperature
- K. C. Lee, M. Sprague, I. Walmsley
- PhysicsScience
- 2 December 2011
This work generated motional entanglement between vibrational states of two spatially separated, millimeter-sized diamonds at room temperature and showed that the quantum state of the diamonds has positive concurrence with 98% probability.
Towards high-speed optical quantum memories
- K. Reim, J. Nunn, I. Walmsley
- Physics
- 15 December 2009
Quantum memories, capable of controllably storing and releasing a photon, are a crucial component for quantum computers1 and quantum communications2. To date, quantum memories3,4,5,6 have operated…
Macroscopic non-classical states and terahertz quantum processing in room-temperature diamond
- K. C. Lee, B. Sussman, I. Walmsley
- PhysicsNature Photonics
- 11 December 2011
The nature of the transition between the familiar classical, macroscopic world and the quantum, microscopic one continues to be poorly understood. Expanding the regime of observable quantum behaviour…
Field-free three dimensional molecular axis alignment.
- J. Underwood, B. Sussman, A. Stolow
- PhysicsPhysical Review Letters
- 13 April 2005
It is shown that an enhanced degree of field-free three dimensional alignment of ground vibronic state molecules obtains from the use of two orthogonally polarized, time-separated laser pulses.
Quantum memories: emerging applications and recent advances
- K. Heshami, D. England, B. Sussman
- PhysicsJournal of Modern Optics
- 12 November 2015
Some of the emerging applications of quantum memories in optical signal processing, quantum computation and non-linear optics are outlined.
Dynamic Stark Control of Photochemical Processes
- B. Sussman, D. Townsend, M. Ivanov, A. Stolow
- PhysicsScience
- 13 October 2006
Dynamic Stark control (DSC) is experimentally demonstrated for a nonadiabatic photochemical reaction, showing substantial modification of reaction channel probabilities in the dissociation of IBr.
Quantum-enhanced standoff detection using correlated photon pairs
- D. England, B. Balaji, B. Sussman
- PhysicsPhysical Review A
- 9 November 2018
We investigate the use of correlated photon pair sources for the improved quantum-level detection of a target in the presence of a noise background. Photon pairs are generated by spontaneous…
Multimode memories in atomic ensembles.
This work compute the multimode capacity of a variety of quantum memory protocols based on light storage in ensembles of atoms and finds that adding a controlled inhomogeneous broadening improves this capacity significantly.
Quantum control via the dynamic Stark effect: Application to switched rotational wave packets and molecular axis alignment
- B. Sussman, J. Underwood, R. Lausten, M. Ivanov, A. Stolow
- Physics
- 15 May 2006
Nonperturbative quantum control schemes in the intermediate field strength nonionizing regime are investigated. We restrict the matter-field interaction to the nonresonant dynamic Stark effect NRDSE…
Five ways to the nonresonant dynamic Stark effect
- B. Sussman
- Physics
- 15 April 2011
The dynamic Stark effect is the quasistatic shift in energy levels due to the application of optical fields. The effect is in many ways similar to the static Stark effect. However, the dynamic Stark…
